Heaven Up Here

The vision of a Clear Resin Angel for our Angel Fields project [currently on site] is taking shape, with a big thanks to artists Lucy Glendinning and Eaton Waygood Associates. We can’t wait to see her fully out of the mould tomorrow and then polished, lacquered and baked [middle shelf - gas mark 4 - 48 hours]. Watch this space for updates!

Hello everyone, we did it! We won awards, but more importantly we went down to London, made merry and returned home in one piece. The only casualty being Mike’s umbrella, which is still in the Two Brewers Pub. If you fnd it your quite welcome to use it.

First images have just arrived today of the Gerard Manley Hopkins Poem Stones. It goes without saying - we are liking them a lot! They will settle in their new home after Christmas - some on a wildflower meadow some in the understorey beneath a small native copse of trees. We can’t wait…..PS - we know the e is missing on Fickle [they were still carving this - when the photo was taken]

We recently managed to save these great Yew Specimens at Loughborough University [they were on the site of a new building/car park]. So we had to take them for a little walk with the help of Civic Trees.

I’m nursing my sore feet after taking MMU Landscape Architecture students on a study tour of Barcelona. This is one city that takes its landscape seriously, even knocking down whole blocks of buildings to form new public spaces which allow the city to breathe.

Highlights included; Nou Jardí Botànic, Parc Diagonal Mar, Parc Clot and the Born district. The parks, streets, shops and food were all truly inspirational!

In a break from the old routine, the bcal collective managed to hit the road this week, left town and crossed the border - first stop the James Turrell Deer Shelter Skyspace at Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Even with grey low cloud it was well worth a visit - cue cloud watching and dreams of lunch.

We walked across the valley to the Longside Gallery to see Unpopular Culture and Nostalgia for the Bad Times - the current exhibition curated by Grayson Perry from the Arts Council Collection & BFI Archives.  It was so good we had to purchase the book - but if your interested get there quick, it ends on 25th October.
